Hummingbird Tea

September 14, 2010
Sip specialty teas, nibble on an array of finger sandwiches, and sample delicious desserts during this tea flavored with hummingbird tidbits. Tea time is 3:00 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the Magnolia Room. Cost is $17.50 for GWG members and $20.50 for non-members (includes applicable tax). Seating is limited so make your reservations early by calling 501-262-9300/800-366-4664.

Garvan Woodland Gardens Blood Drive

We encourage GWG members, volunteers, and visitors to give the gift of life during the Gardens’ annual blood drive 2 to 4:30 p.m. The Bloodmobile will be located in front of the Pratt Welcome Center for easy access. We appreciate all those who choose to participate in this worthy project.

Gardening 101 Workshop

September 21, 2010
Magnolia Room and Garden

Topic: “Early Fall Interest & Garden Walk” – 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Join Garden Director Bob Byers for a presentation that includes many of the Gardens’ plantings that take center stage in September and October. Following the classroom session, Byers will lead participants on a walking tour and point out many of the species discussed during the seminar. Gardening 101 sessions are free to Garden members and previously registered volunteers; regular Garden admission applies to non-members. Advance reservations are recommended. “Prostate Health: Know the Risk Factors” - Part of the St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center Series

Garden Etiquette

  • Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

  • For the enjoyment and safety of all our guests, shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.

  • To protect the natural beauty, which is our trademark, please leave roller blades, skates, and skateboards at home. Racks are available near the Welcome Center for bicycles.

  • Service dogs are permitted throughout the Gardens. Pets on a leash or carried are permitted, but a $4.50 maintenance fee is assessed. Pet owners are asked to remove anything their pet tries to leave with us.

  • We invite you to remember your time with us through personal photography at any open Garden location. However, if your needs extend to photography for commercial purposes, please contact a member of our staff for professional photography policies.

  • To ensure a pleasant experience for all our visitors and protect the Gardens from fire, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the grounds.

  • We want you to safely enjoy the Natural Beauty of Arkansas' Botanical Garden. Please exercise due caution and observe the following: Please stay on designated paths

    • Please refrain from: Blocking access with easels, tripods, etc.; feeding fish or wildlife except as provided in the Welcome Center; picking or cutting flowers or plants.

    • Please do not allow children to: climb on rocks, etc., as they may be slippery; run; wade or play in the water features.

  • As noted by the National Park Service: Take only pictures and leave only footprints!
